CodeMash has started. The drive down here was pretty uneventful. I have to admit I feel dirty being in Ohio. I guess too much rubbed off when I was in college.
The first night was a panel discussion on programming languages. They had someone representing the various languages to answer from that camps perspective. Initially there was no one for PHP and I almost got roped into volunteering to go up there. Fortunately a guy from MySQL saved the day. It's funny though because I recognized him as the guy that gave the MySQL talk at Ohio Linux Fest. I wasn't too fond of him back then. Oh well, he saved the PHP day today.
Kevin has a good roundup of things over here.
Other than that it seemed most people were content to bail and hit the rooms. I know they had tried to plan these “Open Spaces” talks up until 11pm, but the hotel here seems to shut down at 10pm.
The area is pretty much the middle of nowhere and with so many laptops around the wireless connection is struggling to keep up. I got booted a few times before resorting to my cell connection. That was better than nothing, but at 60kbs and latency in the 200-600ms range...ugh.
The plan for today is basically to follow the Python talks all over.
- Rapid Web App. Dev. with TurboGears
- Python Web Services
- Beyond TDD
- Enterprise Python Architecture
