Last night the Michigan LoCo put together a LoCo Bug Jam. Ten people got together and our fearless leader (and kubuntu crazy member) wolfger ran through the ins and outs of working with bugs. I couldn't attend and suck immensely because of that, but I'm still proud to talk about this because of the great emails that I'm seeing come about because of the bug jam.
First, you have the great support wolfger got from the other guys in the group to get up in front of everyone and teach others. I know it takes a lot of work to get up there and do that stuff, but it sounds like the support he got was great. So thanks Jorge and Greg for doing the delicate pushing from behind.
Then you see actual progress comes out of the bug jam. It was primarily an education event. Show people that it's not so scary, really it's not. It's pretty awesome to see wolfger report in after the jam
As a result of last night's presentation, we've already gotten two old bugs closed as of this morning:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/148497
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/107652
Then finally I was even happier to see this email come in from another member that attended the meeting
Just wanted to echo my gratitude for this presentation. It was very
informative. I've been reluctant to do any work with the bug tracker
because I felt I didn't know the packages well enough, but now I see
there's plenty of work to be done just processing the bugs. Because of
your presentation, I feel I can do that.
Now it just doesn't work out any better than that. This is why I love community. All of the guys involved in putting this bug jam together, you rock. Especially wolfger for taking things on and really leading the way with this event. Here's hoping we get some more together.
ps: I can only refer to him as wolfger because that's his irc nick, email from, and the way he signs his email. Man it feels strange to type several times though.
